GARY ANDERSON has warmed up for the World Matchplay by hitting bullseyes with Boris Johnson!
The double World Champion was doing a special practice with BoJo at the Houses of Parliament for William Hill on Monday night.
Ando was in the corridors of power as it was announced Theresa May was to become the new Prime Minister.
But Anderson, who kicks off his Matchplay bid this Saturday, ended up playing Johnson who just a week earlier was favourite for the PM job himself.
Ando admitted: “It was an interesting experience to say the least. I’ve played in some dives in my time but never somewhere like the Houses of Parliament.
“Boris wasn’t a bad player at all. But the only number he didn’t hit was No10. Perhaps that was ironic!
“It was just a one-off night arranged by William Hill. But of all the times to be in the Houses of Parliament, it was the day they announced we had a new Prime Minister.
“The way that party leaders have been dropping lately, if I stayed there long enough I’d probably have ended up as the PM.
“To be honest I couldn’t do that for a living. I find it hard enough trying to beat Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor rather than dealing with corridors of power every day.”
Anderson, after a sensational World Series summer wins in Dubai, Auckland and Tokyo, is now going from Parliament to the Blackpool Winter Gardens this Saturday, home of many a political party conference.
But Ando is keen to keep up his decent form in another historic venue. He added: “I’ve had a great time jetting round the world and my darts have been good.
“I’ve not been that great at Blackpool in the past. I have no idea why. The Scots always love Blackpool in the summer, but I never do.
“Obviously I want that to change and if I keep playing like I have around the world, I know I can win in the Winter Gardens.”
