The BMW 5 Series is a premium car first introduced to BMW’s line up in 1972 and rivals the likes of the Audi A6, Jaguar XF and Mercedes E-Class. There are 2 shapes available in the 5 Series, the 5 series comes in 2 different bodystyles, the Executive Saloon and a Touring Estate.
The 5 Series is available in a choice of 2 trim levels, the SE and the M Sport. There’s also an option to upgrade to the M Sport Plus Package. All models of the 5 Series come with Satellite- Navigation, Electric seat hight and backrest angle adjustment as standard. Optional extras include fully electric seats with a memory for different driving position as well as a reversing camera and a self-parking system. Bright LED headlights are also standard on all models but can be upgraded to adaptive headlights. Both the SE and the M Sport trims come with a top of the range professional Multimedia system with a 10.25inch infotainment screen.
The BMW 5 Series M Sport Plus Package adds additional upgrades including 19-inch M Sport alloy wheels, Sun protection Glass, Harmon Kardon sound system upgrade and Saloon models get an M rear spoiler. The price for the M sport plus package upgrade varies depending on the model but prices start from around £2,000 for the 5 series.
There are a number of different engine varients to choose from on the BMW 5 Series including 3 Turbodiesels: 520d, 525d and 530d and 3 Turbo petrols: 520i, 530i and 540i and a plug-in Hybrid 530e iPerformance.
The 5 Series is also a popular choice of family car, with its long body, comfortable interior and large boot space with 530 litres capacity. Euro NCAP gave the BMW 5 series a full 5 stars when it was tested back in 2017.
