Our nation’s slightly strange love affair with the Volkswagen Campervan continues, even though production has ceased on the big bug. But you can still go and see a huge variety of customised, decorated and outlandish models at Cheshire’s own Camperfest event, now in its fifth year. Taking place across the long Easter bank holiday on Chester Racecourse, it makes for a great day or weekend out for the family. As part of the town’s food, drink and lifestyle festival, there’s camping, gastronomy, plenty of drink and events both on-site and around Chester, plus rows of automotive nostalgia to enjoy.
Last year’s culinary events saw a great line-up of chef’s demonstrations, some stunning recipes and produce from around the world, along with plenty of sticky treats for the kids. Highlights for petrol heads includes a great line-up of Campervans to enjoy, as chrome, car paint and interior decor go crazy thanks to their dedicated owners. While production at the last factory in Brazil ended in 2013, many owners and customisers are still taking classic or recent Campervans and converting them to amazingly high specs and standards, making for some great photo opportunities.
The camping event is open to motorhomes and regular caravans too, or you can just drop in for a nose around the paddock and see the sights. While we don’t have any Campervans in stock, feel free to drop in on Rix Motors. As always, we still sell great used Volkswagen cars and other makes on finance, and can offer a great deal.
