If you are craving adventure and your 4x4 is calling, here are some of our favourite places to go off-roading in the UK, along with some tips if you are a newbie. Take a read and let us know where else you like to head, we are always looking for new places to explore.
Silverstone
You might know it for a different kind of driving but there is also a purpose built 4x4 circuit here, with deep waters, inclines built for adventure and plenty of other bits too. For those who really want to test their handling and skills, this is a must visit!
Wild Tracks
A popular complete off road circuit in Suffolk, this one proves popular with 4x4 fans due to the range that is on offer. Whether you want to drive through soil, take on a steep incline or get tyre deep in some mud, there is everything you could want here.
True Grips
Guided by professionals, this set up in Kent is quite the experience. The route will be trailered to your experience and the capabilities of your vehicle, with plenty of instances to add into the mix as well. Whether you’re looking to get wet in the river or take on a bit of mud, there is something for everyone here.
White Cliff 4x4
Based near the Forest of Dean, there are plenty of terrains to try here. You will get the chance to test your skills on inclines, declines and just about every surface you could think of. The perfect place to put your car through its paces, for sure.
Ultra Adventure Driving
One of the leading companies for off road experiences with sites in both England and Wales. The good thing is that there is something for every ability, which makes it perfect for those just starting out and looking for a good place to start, with the option to build up to trickier courses and obstacles along the way.
If you are new to off-roading, here are a few tips for you.
First of all, take things slow and at your own pace, there is no rush and no prizes, normally, so feel free to take it easy first of all. You might want to start with a smaller circuit or perhaps go in a group for some moral support. Start with a guided track as well if you are just starting out, for that peace of mind and reassurance.
Secondly, make sure you have got any kit you need if you’re not going to a guided area. While we recommend going to a guided track as a newbie, if you go against the grain, just make sure you have all the gear, and at least some idea, as it will make it more enjoyable, we promise you.
Lastly, make sure your motor is up to the challenge. You need a 4x4 vehicle that is going to be able to handle these roads, tracks and adventures. The good news is that we can help with that. If you are looking for a 4x4 car, come and see the team at RIX Motors.
